Fingerless gloves

My not buying anything half year ( or maybe a year ) is doing great. I also started some project to use up all odd balls inspired by un old VK. Basically it´s cast on 180 stitches and knit using up all your yarns, I´ve done 20 cm ( 8( inches ) and are going to do it for almost 2 meters/ yards and then I´m going to knit around the edges and felt it a little. I´ve also done these fingerless mittens the upper is from a ball of cashmere yarn then some green sock yarn and two rows of burgundy sock yarn. The picot edge is croched before the knitting so there are basically no leftovers from the green yarn.
For this one I used a shetlandic wool/alpacka/silk yarn and then some Rowan felted tweed, some cherry flavored koolaid colored yarn for the picots and some pink mohair for the lower edge. The threads need to be wowen in so there are no hole in the pink edge.

Dress double

It would not bother me to show up at a party in the same dress as someone else. It would be strange though becourse I would probably sew my dress. Today I passed a photographer who was showing wedding photos in the window and two of the brides where wearing the same dress! So now I need to know if it was actually the same dress or two of a kind?...

Copenhagen

Spent yesterday in Copenhagen with Ann- Sofi and found a fabric for my spede and some velvet trims. Will take photo and show! The fabric was a remnant that was marked down 50 % at I think it´s called Sycenter at Rosengårdsgatan. The velvet trims to go with it was from Handleren and if you want to, you can buy the whole store as it´s for sale!!! We didn´t ask for the price as we where well aware of that if we owned it we where not being able to sell anything....
I didn´t take a lot of pics but these two outfits cought my eye as I likes both the clothes and the color.
We found the new yarnstore called Bette Design. If you are at Ströget turn left at Indiska if you are walking from the station and it´s on the left side. She has knitting cafées too...
Summerfuglen where as nice as ever.
The beer was good too!

Lucky stars

A while ago I found a link for making these stars from paper at Elegant Musings. As I like the recycle thing I used a magazine and cut strips from using my rotary cutter. It´s a little bit addictive and very fast and with glossy paper the first knot is quite easy to do. The hard part is to take the photo!
Turn your head and look at the necklace made with cotton yarn and pearls. If I had a Christmas tree I would make garlands this way!

Caramell mittens

The yarn is from Östergötlands Ullspinneri and is called Karamell yarn. They have a working Spinning Jenny but I´m not sure if this yarn is spun on it. Crochet the easy way.

Challenge

I been thinking a lot lately about how much things we and I buy and then we have to buy smart storage for all our things, so I decided to challenge myself not to buy things for the next 6 months. I´m not going to buy any fabric, yarn, clothes, things for my kitchen. This includes magazines but not pantyhose and notions to be needed instantly.
I will not go naked and I will not be out of fabric and yarn.
A friend of mine challenged herself to a "five a day" clean the appartment. She got rid of five things a day ( goodwill, garbage, me ....)
My favourite band is going to release a new album in 11 days and I´m going to buy it becourse when I threw my TV out two years ago I said I would buy one CD/ month and I haven´t done that.

Skirt for Hanna

I made myself a skirt in this fabric earlier and had a remant left and asked my niece if she wanted a skirt in it and since she loves pink and purple... I used a very simple skirt and did a fold on the front piece inspired from a skirt I made earlier from an Onionpattern. Not beeing able to try it on I sewed the sideseams after the waist to simplify alteration
Her birthdayparty is tomorrow, and I known this for a while so why do I have to do this in the last minute?

Scarf from Fabel

The scarf in Fabel have been ready for a while and is nice to wear. The yarn looks much better here with 20 stitches than on a sock. Good project for selfstriping yarns

Onion goes Chanel

I don´t look so content but I am!. Here´s a back view:
and close up on the hem line with the chain:
Hood
Finally!!!!!!!!!!
I used an article in Treads about simplying the construction and it worked fine, but at the end I omitted putting bias tape around the armcycle and just used zig zag. The arma have facings in the quilted burgundy fabric, used the lower pattern part that could be done in a contrasting fabric.
I like this jacket a lot!

More wool

The variagated pink cardigan is frogged and the yarn has been soaked and is not this curly any more I finished my first Ballerina by Hanne Falkenberg
and the beautiful back
Looks much better wearing something nicer than these yogapants. The jacket now belongs to my mother who had her birthday last week This is a closeup on my Ballerina in a rusty red, orange and brown. Need to sew the seams under the arm that are the only seams on this jacket! Very clever design! and fun to knit!
Button still has to be replaced.

Wool from "down under"

When I came to our latest SnB meeting a woman was unpacking yarn. Her name is Biggan and she was a knitwear designer here in Sweden 25 years ago before she moved to Australia. Now she´s back with her own yarnline. It´s a sooooft merino yarn in 64 colors. Did I say it was soft?
She sells it through her internetstore and here she is herself packing We convinced her to came back before she´s going back so we can buy her yarn so she wouldn´t have to bring it back with her.

Are we "up over" for the aussies????

10 things to do in the near future!!!!

1. Replace the lost button in my grey jacket, it´s been missing 3- 4 weeks!
2. Frog and fix the yarn from the variagated pink cardigan
3. Finish the Onion goes Chanel jacket
4. Sew all the seams in the brown and teal cardigan ( then I got to find some fun closures for it!) and the felt it.
5. Finish the green spede style cardigan that I finally ( 6 months ) found some more trim for.
6. 3 skirts that are cut and started to sew on should be finished
7. Brown Onion jacket are cut, should be sewed
8. second red pearl cuff should be done
9. Green barett started from the Envy yarn should be finished
10. What if I sew together the aran- lace cotton sweater inspired by Debbie Bliss.

Ok! so there is that button?

Spede update

20 cm! My plan was to do 5 cm/ week and I´ve done the double.
I always liked thin needles but I never thought that I liked them this thin!

Flower power

This is the flowerpin I was talking about earlier. It´s made from a sari silk and merino yarn and pearls from Eva´s goodie box, regular safetypin on the back I decided that I had to show the jacket too. It´s made from a Burda pattern in the Plus size section in a summer issue and is in the original versions unlined. I lined mine and used fake fur for the hood and a left over rayon for inside lining. The green fabric is 100 % wool and bought in Paris 2 years ago. I also have a belt for it but fell that my waist have to be more defined to be used...

Karin went to Kiel

This is the yarn I made during PR weekend in Kiel. As you are supposed to give the yarn a name I chosed "Karin went to Kiel"

Helylle.se

Helylle is a yarn shop that opened in Kristiansstad maybee two months ago. It used to be in Vittskövle outside Kristiansstad before. Loverly shop and more yarn than before. Eva now carries Rowan and Drops as well as Rauma and some other stuff. She also sells Spede sweaters, both kits and readymade sweaters if you just want to do the decoration.
I bought more than I intended to do!
I started my spede sweater in a teal yarn I´ve knitted 6 cm and my plan is to do 5 cm/ week and then the body will be finished by the first weekend i february when there will be a spede class on how to do the embellishment
This a detail, the needles are 1,5 mm
I also bought this variagated yarn for a scarf with holes in it that I will felt, not started yet
I saw a scarf in the shop knitted in Drops Fabel, 20 stitches, the hole ball, two knots ine each end. Have done half the scarf now.
Works in any selfstriped sock yarn. I saw that Kaffe Fasset had done colors for Regia. I think a scarf is a much better place to show off nice yarn than on the foot inside a shoe or a boot

Spede sweaters

I felted a man´s wool sweater. It´s in a much nicer brown shade than the photo will tell! Decided that the fully fashion detail was not what I wanted to se, so I
sewed a seam to make it a little bit less showing
Then I cut a neckline
added some fabric, will add some more becourse it´s showing too much
to be continued...

Embellishment and stitchmarkers

We had a workshop last sunday at Eva´s bookbinding workshop. Started at 11.00 wintertime!!! Guess who forgot to turn the clock? I did some croched flowers for my hot pink scarf and for a couple of socks and a nice flower pin that I´ll have to take a picture of Candy!

Onion 3015

When I was a child I used to read the book of Petter and Lotta who were two kids living with aunt Brown, Aunt Green and Aunt Lilac/ purple. There were also a Mr Blue. This year I start to feel like I´m miss purple. This is the latest addition:It´s onion 3015 and the fabric is bought in Kiel at PR weekend this year and it´s a cordroi that has appliquées in lace and some embroidery. It´s a fun fabric that maybee will last a few washes but that´s OK with me becourse I think that it´s also a fabric that I will be bored of rather soon.
Here´s a closeup with the green cordroi that I will turn into a jacket one day or another

String of pearls

The little island in the middle is from Panduro´s outlet and the seedbeads are from Stof and Stil and it didn´t take long to transform them into this:
Colors are a little bit too green.

Lucky day at fleamarkets

I went to my favourite fleamarket Erikshjälpen today and found this coat for 55 crowns, ( maybee 6 dollars ) The coat is long and the belt is missing. I have to replace the shoulder pads and don´t let size 10 fool you. Now I understand how people can wear size 0...
The coat is not lined and I´m thinking of shortening it into a jacket and sew a belt from the extra fabric. Anyway it´snot warm enought to wear now.

Then I found this jacket for 45 crowns. I need a jacket to wear to the gym. I took my old jacket to wear at the stable so this one will work fine. I have to sew in new buttons for the pockets. It´seasy cared for just washer and dryer.
When I found these, hardly used. It´s Vagabond I´m not sure how international that brand is. Nice and wide, 27 crowns
When I went to Myrorna ( salvation army ) Their prices are much higher but I found these shoes for 100 crowns. It´s Sköna Marie, a brand I have many shoes from, They are usually very boring and you can see at once that they are SM. But these where different, 100 crowns, need to buy a sole for them.
I think they will look good with pants as well as skirts.

And a woman can´t have too many shoes and I threw some that where outworn some weeks ago!

Ethel´s coat

I bought this nice coat at goodwill. I think Ethel spent her last days at an elderly home and that her arms where shorter than mine... There are some extra fabric in the cuffs that can be used
I also need to move a button to where it used to be and resew the buttonholes. Then I have a nice warm winter coat. Looks great with my boots but I might want to make a scarf or buy one for it.
